I ran across an interesting article on the scriptural inaccuracy of Christmas carol lyrics. I will dig into some of these and summarize them for three posts.

I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas day in the morning.

Bethlehem is land-locked so no ships would sail there.

The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep

It wasn’t a cold winter’s night. Only tradition places it in December.
