It’s time for a review
I added a box on the right titled Posted previously on this day.
It will show you the title of the post from this date in a previous year.
It should help with reviewing the past posts.
It is time for a break from posting
After 560 non-stop postings I will be taking a break. There is plenty of information in those 560 postings to be reviewed.
I placed a post on my blog tonight
A blog is a personal online journal (web log).
A post is a single blog entry.
A blog site is the location of a blog online, indicated by its URL.
A blogsite is a website combing feeds from multiple sources.
You can find a more detailed list here.
Do you like grammar too?
When using too in a sentence, which format should I use?
I like chocolate candy too.
I like chocolate candy, too.
I too like chocolate candy.
I too, like chocolate candy.
I found that either is correct. The comma adds more emphasis.

Christmassy, Christmassier, Christmassiest
Was your Christmas Christmassy?
Was it Christmassier than previous Christmases?
Was it the Christmassiest one so far?
Inaccurate lyrics in Christmas carols – Part 3
I ran across an interesting article on the scriptural inaccuracy of Christmas carol lyrics. I will dig into some of these and summarize them for three posts.
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
No one has ever considered childbirth to be calm or silent.
Joy to the world the Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.
This is not inaccurate but was written as a hymn glorifying Christ’s triumphant return at the end of the age instead of a Christmas carol.
Let these words from O Little Town of Bethlehem be our prayer today:
O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Inaccurate lyrics in Christmas carols – Part 2
I ran across an interesting article on the scriptural inaccuracy of Christmas carol lyrics. I will dig into some of these and summarize them for three posts.
We three kings of orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star
There is nothing in scripture about their being three of them and nothing about them being kings. They were wise men looking for a “child who has been born king of the Jews.”
Away in a manger
No crib for His bed
…
The cattle are lowing
The poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
To say that baby Jesus never cried is to deny his humanity. See Hebrews 2:14-17 where it states that Jesus was “fully human in every way.”
It came upon the midnight clear
That glorious song of old
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of gold
There is no place in scripture where it says angels play harps. This song never mentions the name of Jesus. It was written my a Unitarian pastor (Unitarians do not believe in the divinity of Jesus).
Inaccurate lyrics in Christmas carols – Part 1
I ran across an interesting article on the scriptural inaccuracy of Christmas carol lyrics. I will dig into some of these and summarize them for three posts.
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas day, on Christmas day;
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas day in the morning.
Bethlehem is land-locked so no ships would sail there.
The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep
It wasn’t a cold winter’s night. Only tradition places it in December.
End these with “ward”, not “word”
These words sound like they should end with word but their correct spelling ends with ward.
Awkward, afterward, backward, coward, downward, forward, homeward, inward, onward, upward and westward.
I am doubtless we can drop those two characters
use doubtless, not doubtlessly
the -ly ending is not necessary
